The Warriors kept their undefeated season alive Thursday night, defeating Covenant Christian Academy in straight sets to move one step closer to a District 3 Class 1A championship. Linville took control from the first serve and never looked back, winning 25–9, 25–7, and 25–19 to improve to 21–0 on the year.
The Warriors opened the first set on fire, serving tough and attacking the net consistantly. A fast 10-3 start forced the Falcons into an early timeout, but Linville’s offense kept rolling. Covenant Christian burned its second timeout trailing 20–7, but the Warriors’ momentum was too much as they closed out the set 25–9.
The second set was all Linville. Strong serves and great setting helped the Warriors build an 8–1 lead, forcing another early Covenant timeout. The Falcons tried to rally, but the Warriors stayed aggressive at the net, using quick sets and smart placement to cruise to a 25–7 win.
Covenant put up its best fight in the third set, matching the Warriors point for point early. Linville called its first timeout with a narrow 13–11 lead to regroup and refocus. With a new plan, the Warriors came out firing, going on a 5–1 run and forcing the Falcons to take their final timeout at 18–12. Covenant showed grit late, but Linville closed strong to seal the sweep 25–19.
The Warriors’ serve receive, quick passing, and front-row play were key factors in the win. Linville’s energy and confidence never faded, keeping their postseason hopes very much alive.
Whats Next: With the win, Linville Hill (21–0) advances to the PIAA District 3 Class 1A semifinals, where they will face the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The matchup will be played at the Linville Hill Elementary School.
